Organised for ease

Have you ever found yourself frantically searching for something, only to realise it’s lost in a sea of clutter? It’s incredibly frustrating, isn’t it? Sometimes, this disorganisation can even make you late for important commitments, adding even more stress to your day. I know the feeling all too well—like when I can’t find a document on my computer because it wasn’t e-filed properly or I forgot which folder I saved it in.

There’s a saying by Tryon Edwards: “Have a time and place for everything, and do everything in its time and place, and you will not only accomplish more, but have far more leisure than those who are always hurrying.” This quote resonates with me because, while I’m good at maintaining routines—like my morning and bedtime rituals, making lists, and keeping my kitchen organised—I still struggle with clutter around my desk.

Google responded to my query with many options – some lists had 58 or 100 suggestions! But I prefer not to be overwhelmed, so the more manageable list of nine tips from LifeHack.org is easier to adopt.

Here are the nine tips:

  1. Establish a morning and evening routine.
  2. Set actionable goals.
  3. Use a calendar.
  4. Keep a task list with no more than five items.
  5. Prioritise important tasks.
  6. Delegate tasks when possible.
  7. Keep your workspace tidy.
  8. Ensure everything has its place.
  9. Discard one non-essential item each day.

By integrating these tips into your daily routine, you can create a more organised environment that helps to reduce overwhelm and increase productivity.
